The Repertory

"...how necessary it is for any man that aspires to true Knowledge, to examine the definitions of former authors...
For the errors of definitions multiply themselves, according as the reckoning proceeds; and lead men into absurdities..."

— Thomas Hobbes

"Beware the man of one book."

— Thomas Aquinas

"Some men have a passion for horses, others for birds, others for savage animals, but I for books."

— Julian, Roman emperor, c. 331-363 CE

An alphabetical listing of terms, authors and books relevant to the subjects of atheism, secularism, the sciences, religions, etc.

For each term, the text inside the rectangular box, if any, is meant to be a clear and concise definition, based on standard usage and and commonly available references. Subsequent text (after any definition box) is further explanation and commentary about the word or term and may reflect the opinion of the webmaster, David Rand. Each entry also contains a link to every book in this repertory having the term as keyword.

Books are listed by both title and author. The entry for each title includes keywords describing the topic(s) to which the title is relevant; each keyword is a hyperlink to the corresponding term. The entry for each author lists (and links to) books by that author which appear in this repertory.
