The Vatican, 2000-08-25
The Vatican's "Pontifical Academy for Life" declares its staunch moral opposition to the
therapeutic use of embryonic stem cells and indicates that only adult stem cells should be so used. This position is
obviously a direct result of the Catholic Church's intransigent opposition to abortion.
The Church has always taught and continues to teach that the result of human procreation, from the first moment of its existence, must be guaranteed that unconditional respect which is morally due to the human being in his or her totality and unity in body and spirit...
Webmaster's comment:
What is the motivation underlying this stand? In the words of Dean Austin:
"The only reason the Vatican opposes abortion is to keep women in a more difficult position physically,
socially and legally and to aid population growth which ensures a cheap labor market, and sufficient poverty
and ignorance. Poverty, ignorance, and cheap labor are vital ingredients for ensuring the strength of
authoritarian political structures such as the Vatican."

The Québec Human Rights Commission accuses the city of Outremont and the Montreal Urban Community (MUC)
of practices which violate liberty of conscience. The two municipalities maintain a tradition of reciting
a prayer -- of Christian flavour -- at the beginning of each council meeting.
Ottawa Citizen — Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, 2000-08
A controversial new book by a historian at Queens University says a veritable Who's Who of top biblical scholars have been hoodwinked by a fraudulent secret gospel that implies Jesus was a homosexual. Don Akenson says the so-called Secret Gospel of Mark is actually an "ironic gay joke at the expense of all the self-important scholars."
