Announcement of Formation

"We are committed to the Principle of the Separation of Mosque, Religion, Dogmatic Ideologies and the State.
The human being is the first principle of ontology: Not Gods, Prophets or Sacredness.
Creative cogito is our living epistemology: Not Old/New Testaments, Koran or Holy Verses.
Freedom of expression for all is our intention: Not Chosen Ones, Masters,or Superiors.
Dia-Dialogue is our methodology: Not Jihad, Crusades or Holy Killings."

The DiaHumanism Institute for Studies in Freethought is a project, founded and chaired by Dr Marvin F Zayed, whose purpose is to examine the negative aspects of the Islamic religion and to promote separation of Mosque from State. The Centre is associated with the International Humanist and Ethical Union [IHEU] and the Humanist Association of Canada [HAC].

Why these documents now?

"Our purpose in bringing to light these documents at the present time is neither to dehumanize nor to justify any form of violence against Muslim individuals, communities or nations. Rather, by making their contents more widely known, we hope to achieve two educational goals:"

"The first is to expose the roots of Islamic violence in the words and actions of the Prophet himself. The pattern of violence established by the icon-Prophet was perpetuated by his followers and has continued to influence the conscious and subconscious of Muslim believers up to the present time."

"Our second goal is to invite Muslims, and Arabs in particular, to review, to admit to, and to rationally criticize the dark, inhuman chapters in the history of Islam. Most Muslims continue to turn a blind eye to the hate literature, racism and discrimination in their history."

"As secular Humanists, we do not believe in Allah or any other God as the giver of divine messages, in Mohammad or any other prophet as their messenger, or in any of the Holy Books as their message."

"Muslims look to Mohammad as an iconic model to be emulated; we see him as a historical leader who can be rationally criticized for his politico-theological ambitions for Arabia, a King with a sword out to conquer the world."

"Muslims consider the Koran to be the exact word of Allah; to us it is no more than a cultural document that reflects a certain moment in Arabian history and should be criticized accordingly."

"In summary, the history of Islam is similar to that of other religious movements. The problem is that Muslims regard it as sacred and supreme, and thus beyond criticism. They hold three sacred topics as totally untouchable: Allah, Mohammad and the Koran. Without engaging in rational criticism of the ideology that drives them, Muslims will not be able to move from the irrational cosmos of war to the vivid realm of rational peace with themselves and with the rest of the world."

"Islam today is very similar to the Church of the Medieval Age. The separation of Mosque from State is the primary condition for any progress."

"We have done our utmost to ensure that our work of researching, substantiating, translating and editing these documents was carried out in an objective, scholarly and methodological manner."

"We welcome any civilized dialogue or rational critique."
