A message from the president of the International Committee to Protect Freethinkers (ICPF) concerning recent horrific events in Beslan, Russia: Stop Killing Children Anywhere and Everywhere

On September 1st we, the free thinkers of the world, have been transformed into the children of Beslan. They were sprayed with bullets, but we will be sprayed with shame if we do not individually and collectively take a clear stance against the Islamic Ideology that implemented it around the world.
We are appealing to every person on our globe to respect fundamental norms of civilized societies everywhere, to end slaughter based on religious hatred, and to respect the Universal Rights of Humans, particularly the innocent children whatever their beliefs or the beliefs of their families and societies. Wars never were and shall never be civilized. Killing or using children as tools in any war is the uttermost intentional heinous act that any person or group might carry out.
There is no idea, religious faith or ideology, any form of secular or sacred nationalism that can be justified killing one child in any domain of this earth.
If such crime against humanity is what Arabism and Islamism are delivering to the world, then Arabic/Islamic cultures and teachings are no more than a perpetual fountain of darkness, violence and death.
Any militant person—soldier, guerilla or otherwise—who directs his/her weapon against a child, he/she is committing crime against humanity as such, and should be judged accordingly.
If we do not condemn such crimes against the Children of the World, all of us should collectively resign from our claim to be the children of light, and the integral force that impels global consciousness.
If not, our words will always be tainted with disgraceful cowardice.
We understand the complicated realities of our world. We have deep understanding that the only power we have is the power of words. The course of history always recognizes the words of freethinkers as the enlightening candles in the moment of darkness. We are now witnessing a moment of darkness. We can not and should not be silent. On behalf of the ICPF members in the three continents, we are sending our call to the world community:
Stop Killing Children Anywhere and Everywhere.
